Local Sports Academy Donates Proceeds to Japanese Disaster Relief
Harleysville, PA – In an effort to provide relief to the country of Japan; following their recent earthquake, tsunami and nuclear disasters; CAL Sports Academy is donating proceeds from their Friday Night Basketball and Friday Night Soccer Programs for the months of April and May to the American Red Cross for Japanese Disaster Relief. CAL Sports Academy’s primary mission is to help young athletes achieve success through sports and part of that mission is sending a positive message and leading by example. As a result, CAL Sports Academy owner, Corey Lord, felt that his sports academy should lead by donating a $1.00 on behalf of every participant in his, highly successful, Friday Night Basketball and Soccer Programs to Japanese disaster relief. The disaster relief effort began at the beginning of April and will go until the end of May so that as much money as possible can be collected to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people of Japan.
“The outstanding response and loyalty of families to Friday Night Basketball and Soccer has made us, as an organization, realize how fortunate we really are to have the support of such great families. And as a result, we were inspired to make a consistent effort to support others who are less fortunate,” said Mr. Lord. “This effort is just the beginning of what we can do as an organization, our goal is to continue to give to deserving local, national, and international charities, to make the world a better and more positive place,” continued Coach Lord. The Friday Night Basketball and Soccer Programs take place every Friday Night at Montgomery County Sports Performance Center, located at 110 Christopher Lane in Harleysville, PA. Games are conducted in 2 hour blocks. Grades 2-6 play from 6:00pm to 8:00pm and Grades 7-9 play from 8:00pm to 10:00pm. All games are co-ed, balanced by age and ability and are refereed. The cost is $15.00 per player for either Friday Night Basketball or Friday Night Soccer and $20.00 if a player wants to play in the Friday Night Basketball and Soccer Combo program where they can play both Basketball and Soccer. During the games Coaches Corey Lord and Aaron Dean pause from time to time to provide instruction during the games. The philosophy of solid technical play, with fairness and sportsmanship are emphasized throughout all games. In addition to Friday Night Basketball and Soccer Programs CAL Sports Academy offers a wide variety of basketball and soccer camps, clinics and leagues, plus AAU Basketball Teams and private or group lessons for boys and girls of all ages. Whether a young athlete is just discovering what sport they like, or wants to take their game to a whole new level, CAL Sports Academy has a sports or conditioning program tailored to meet their needs and skill level.
